You will find local island websites listed below and we hope you take this opportunity to plan your trip to the Hebrides.

Oban Holidays

Explore the Hebrides from Oban

Easdale Island

The smallest of the inhabited Slate Islands, Easdale is reached by a 5 minute passenger ferry crossing from Ellenabeich. The tiny island is dominated by the flooded quarries, remnant of the 17th-19th century slate industry that was so vital to the economy of the area in years gone by. Easdale is car free, and close to the slipway can be seen the wheelbarrows owned and used by residents for transporting their shopping home from the ferry. Close to the slipway is the Puffer Bar (picture below) which provides excellent home cooked meals and the islands museum.

Torsa Island

Lying close alongside Luing is the small, fertile island of Torsa. The only house on it has recently been made available for holiday lets, along with use of a boat and buggy. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the privacy and peace of your own island for family holidays with a spacious well equipped former farmhouse. Discover more on www.torsa-island.co.uk

Slate Islands

Located just a half hour drive from the bustling harbour town of Oban are the little known Slate Islands. The islands of Seil, Luing and Easdale are the perfect base for exploring the area from a quiet and scenic area that only a few tourists ever discover.

Isle of Seil

Connected to the mainland by the famous "Bridge over the Atlantic" is the largest of the three main islands, Seil. With a pub, micro-brewery, challenging nine hole golf course and a selection of holiday accomodation it is the most well known of the islands. Other features include An Cala Gardens in Elenabeich, a stunning walled garden open to the public. There are also wildlife watching boat trips available from the harbours at Balvicar and Ellenabeich to get visitors closer to the wonderful marine wildlife of the area, and the spectacular scenery of the Firth of Lorn, including the Corrywreckan whirlpool.

Luing

With a selection of walks available visitors can get closer to the landscape and get a taste of island life for themselves. With stunning views to the west of Mull, Scarba and the Garvellachs. Accommodation is available at Sunnybrae Caravan Park, or self catering cottages.
